Aurélien Izard

Set designer

After earning a master’s degree in architecture from ENSA Paris Val de Seine, Aurélien discovered set design while working at the FCS studio (Frédéric Casanova Scénographe). This inspired him to pursue a two-year program in set design (DPEA) at ENSA Nantes, during which he explored various disciplines, from exhibitions to film and theater. His passion for the stage and public spaces led him toward the performing arts, where he collaborated with set designer Marion Prevel on projects for the Les Dandys theater company, and more specifically in street theater, working on projects for the LUIT (Laboratoire Urbain d’Interventions Temporaires) led by director Zelda Soussan. He developed his practice by following the creative process from design to construction, which he generally carried out himself. At the same time, he also collaborated with the Théâtre Clandestin company, led by director Thomas Trelohan, and the Swedish company ReAct!, both of which focus on public spaces.

He joined Désert en Ville for the project En Souvenances. In collaboration with Juliette Kempf, he designed the structure of the installation and built it.
